Strolled in for happy hour looking for a drink and a bite. Staff was professional, friendly and atmosphere was as expected. Chill vibes, relaxing and plenty of variety on the menu. We were also lucky enough to hear some great live music while enjoying our dinner and fresh cocktails. A bonus on a Tuesday night in low season! We enjoyed chatting with the lovely Argentinian owner at the bar and learned why this place is so special. Hands on management and bilingual staff. Will definitely return this week and each visit to Playa Grande.

The hotel was clean, comfortable and had a very simple but yet beautiful and earthy atmosphere. The grounds were cleaned by the staff every day! Nature is all around the rooms, so leaves would naturally fall, and every day they would clean and maintain the grounds. Very hard working and friendly staff. We saw monkeys, iguanas, squirrels, crabs, butterflies, birds by just walking to the pool! It was wonderful. The two pools were closed by to all rooms and they were really nice , surrounded by lounge chairs and trees providing shade on those really hot days. The hotel is walking distance to the beach. perfect for a surf trip. The hotel is quiet , perfect for relaxing, but restaurants and a cafe is closed by. The RipJack restaurant offered good food and the waiters were so nice! Thanks Alicia for taking care of us! There is a lot of construction around, so there was noise pretty much all day… but it didn’t really bother us. There are no umbrellas allowed (I was told) at the beach, because it is a Nature Reserve, so be aware that it gets really hot in the middle of the day. It was unbearable, but the pool felt specially nice. Also, the hotel rents the beach chairs per day… really thought it would have been included. Maybe in the future. Overall it was a fantastic stayed, and will recommend and come back.

This was our second trip to the Rip Jack but our first after their newly built restaurant. If you are in Playa Grande, traverse the bumpy road long enough to eat here. This establishment is beautiful, clean and delicious. I had the whole fish snapper and tuna tower. The tuna tower was a little different just because it was Costa Rica, not Asian. It was delicious. The service was a little slow, but we were a large group (14). It was raining like I had never seen before and they were very gracious as we were late for our reservation. Outstanding restaurant!

Our trip married couple with two adult children(early twenties). We booked Suite two, and when we saw the two twin beds were in an alcove right off the main bedroom(the property describes it as a separate area), we switched to a Villa, which had two separate bedrooms and was very nice. The man(Elio might be his name) working the office took us down the street to the villa, and showed us around the rooms. After he left, I discovered both safes were locked. I went back to the office and asked the man to come unlock the safes. He said he was too busy preparing for a large group to arrive, and would do it later. Around 6:30PM, I called the front office, and Josue answered and came to the room right away to unlock the safes. The location is right near the beach, and there are plenty of food options nearby the Inn. The on property restaurant had great food, and our waitress for two meals at lunch and dinner was fantastic(her name I believe was Mebelinn). Overall, I would stay here again, and only gave a rating of 4 because the locked safes in my room were an issue I had to resolve instead of the staff being proactive. Make sure you view the room pictures closely and ask questions before you book a room to suit your needs.

My friends and I stayed at RipJack for three days and I would absolutely recommend it. We’ve been in CR for ten days and these are by far the most comfortable beds/rooms. Very friendly hotel desk and staff throughout the property. Security all night so our car and surfboards were always locked up at night. The restaurant and bar are really nice with great food. We ate meals there a lot and everything from breakfast to dinner is tasty. All the restaurant staff is friendly and kind. Alicia is really fun and we got to know her. Proximity to the spots we came to surf makes it an ideal location for the Playa Grande surf breaks. Oh and much quieter and more chill than Tamarindo. So if you want to party definitely go there.

Very cool vibe. Pristine beach a very short walk away. Peaceful ambiance. Great food on site. Not much action close by - this is a place to surf, do yoga, find your peace. The beach is amazing and one day I had it ALL to myself...... there was literally not another soul in sight.

Amazing experience! I travelled with my friends to their wedding and stayed at the Rip Jack! I love the restaurant and the staff was so incredibly friendly. I definitely recommend staying at the Villas they are so cozy and the private pool was great! Thanks for making my friends dream come true! I can’t wait to bring my family back soon.
